Excess Sweating

Hyperhidrosis or excess sweating is a common condition which affects 1% to 2% of the world’s population.  The sweating may affect the whole of the body or may only affect certain areas. The sweating does not pose a serious threat to your health but it can be embarrassing and distressing.

The most common areas that we treat here in Cosmedics are as follows:

  • Armpits
  • Palms of the hands
  • Face and chest
  • Groin

The treatment for excessive sweating is done by injection which temporarily blocks the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the eccrine sweat glands.  When the sweat glands do not receive the chemical signals the severe sweating stops. Perspiration tends to diminish substantially within 48 hours of treatment.  The effects of the treatment tend to last for between nine and twelve months and most patients come in for treatment on an annual basis.

We do not treat the feet as this is a very sensitive areas and clients find the treatment too painful.
